Young soprano LEILA SCHÜTZ creates the title-part of ROSE SHOSHANA in the WORLD-PREMIERE of "Rose Shoshanan Kahan - togbukh" at the annual returning Yiddish Summer in Weimar. *Togbukh* by Rose Shoshanan – a Jewish story set in Shanghai. She recorded all her observations and experiences in a diary, from which Dr Diana Matut and Dr Alan Bern have now created a one-woman play. Leila Schütz, not only a singer, but also a studied musicologist ( Sorbonne) and a studied - and often awarded - violinist, will, next to her commitments as a singer, study STAGE DIRECTION in Vienna from Sep. 2026. Finally on digital CD: D. Dennehy's and E. Walsh's at the Irish National Opera WORLD-PREMIERED opera "The First Child" with countertenor ERIC JURENAS as highly praised MAN: "To call ERIC JURENAS a revelation is to understate it considerably; not so much singing as challenging angels..." What pity, this fabulous production was "only" released as CD, because ERIC JURENAS also - as in every production so far - was praised for his acting skills. "... At various intervals, a demon-like voice in the form of countertenor ERIC JURENAS swoops in on proceedings. In its staged version, his character is a nameless MAN who struts about the stage and seems to relish Karen’s downfall. The spectacular glissandi in his aria ‘Could the moon decide to leave me there’ are a vocal tour de force, brilliantly executed on this recording..."
