Bass-Baritone NICO WOUTERSE with great vocal authority and a commanding presence in the title-role of SWEENEY TODD at Theater Koblenz 🗞️ "... NICO WOUTERSE portrays the title character with great vocal authority and a commanding stage presence. Following the demanding operatic roles of the season now drawing to a close – including Wotan in "Rheingold" – he demonstrates enormous versatility and, in the role of SWEENEY TODD, repeatedly finds – alongside all his gloomy determination – quiet, restrained tones..." 🗞️ "...NICO WOUTERSE lends the vengeful barber SWEENEY TODD a frighteningly intense stage presence, backed by tremendous vocal authority. One senses the confinement and hopelessness that constantly trap him in new dependencies. As a maniacal murderer, he comes across at times as despondent and resigned, only to regain his strength with robust vigour...."

Baritone SEYMUR KARIMOV according to a reviewer on his artistically zenith in the title-role of Verdi's RIGOLETTO at Staatstheater Regensburg 🗞️ ".... SEYMUR KARIMOV is currently enjoying the zenith of his singing career. Nothing in terms of role profiles, nothing in terms of vocal challenges seems to pose him any difficulty at the moment – he has mastered the entire vocal part with ease... KARIMOV guides his melodious baritone through the emotional depths and vocal registers of the border-crosser as if it were no effort at all. He skilfully allows the classic court jester to shine through time and again..." 🗞️"... The evening was also a vocal triumph, as Seymur Karimov demonstrated impressive presence in the title role. The Azerbaijani baritone delivers a powerful performance, yet remains vulnerable and moving. A powerful character portrayal...." 🗞️"... In the role of Rigoletto, baritone SEYMUR KARIMOV shines with a commanding stage presence, a rich, powerful voice and precise intonation, as well as expressive power and clear articulation of the Italian text..."

Tenor RAFAEL HELBIG-KOSTKA as enthusiastically celebrated TAMINO in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" at Nationaltheater Mannheim 🗞️ "... RAFAEL HELBIG-KOSTKA's Tamino is quite fabulous. Has anyone ever heard him sing better? The way he sings the Bildnis-aria, for instance, and moves effortlessly back and forth between a flat C and A flat, is truly impressive – above all, his control and the balance of his register are excellent...." 🗞️ "... Rafael Helbig-Kostka sings the role of Tamino with a very even, radiant tenor voice, entering the higher notes gently, infusing them with emotion and possessing a very pleasing timbre..." 🗞️ "... RAFAEL HELBIG-KOSTKA is convincing as Tamino thanks to his delicate, lyrical timbre, which he employs to exquisite effect, whilst always using it with great style...." Rafael Helbig-Kostka's following Mozart-part: FERRANDO in the Revival-Run of "Cosi fan tutte" at Schlosstheater Schwetzingen, beginning 09-07-2026

Baritone ILYA LAPICH convinces as singer and actor in his role-debut as PAPAGENO in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" at Nationaltheater Mannheim 🗞️ "... ILYA LAPICH sings Papageno with a rich baritone voice and acts with great panache...." 🗞️ "... Papageno, played by ILYA LAPICH, who – alongside his day job as a puber – is also a stage animal. He plays the bird-catcher with complete ease and relish, and in the arias he fills the Opal with baritone brilliance. What more could one ask for? ..." 🗞️ "... lLYA LAPICH, sings his Papageno, with a beautiful tone and refinement, but is, unfortunately, completely underused in terms of acting by the director..." 🗞️ "... ILYA LAPICH's Papageno provides an example of Mozart’s elusive lightness; he steers clear of clowning around, even though Papagena, in particular, is portrayed as a pin-up girl on stage...." Ilya Lapich's following Mozart-part: Guglielmo in the Revival-Run of "Cosi fan tutte" at Schlosstheater Schwetzingen, beginning 09-07-2026

LENA GEIGER's soprano voice, with its strong middle register and virtuosic agility, proves ideal for Fiordiligi's 'Come Scoglio'..." 🗞️ "... LENA GEIGER as a Fiordiligi whose armour is not of lasting durability, allowing us a deep glimpse into her inner self: most beautifully in the rondo ‘Per pietà, ben mio’..." 🗞️ "... Soprano LENA GEIGER portrays the dutiful Fiordiligi with vocal warmth and expressiveness...." 🗞️ "...LENA GEIGER as Fiordiligi and Katleho Mokhoabane as Ferrando stole the show. Tenor KATLEHO MOKHOABANE with again beyond beautiful singing in a Mozart-role FERRANDO in "Cosi fan tutte" at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden 🗞️ "The wonderful tenor KATLEHO MOKHOABANE sings this with great finesse and tenderness, not only in ‘Un’ aura amorosa’, which he addresses more to love in general than to his beloved...." 🗞️ "....South African tenor KATLEHO MOKHOABANE is the ideal vocal choice for the role of Ferrando, because he exudes such lyrical brilliance, warmth, and nobility that 'Un aura amorosa', his aria in the first act, sounds as heartfelt as a art song...." 🗞️"... Tenor OWEN METSILENG celebrates a huge success at his debut in the title-part of Verdi's OTELLO at Staatstheater Meiningen 🗞️"...OWEN METSILENG is a powerful Otello. He has the vocal stamina required for this demanding role .. ." 🗞️".... With radiant high notes and great energy ....but ven in the great dramatic outbursts, he never simply sings loudly, but always with control; and in his timbre, despite all the heroic tenor’s power, there is always a hint of brokenness – something this character requires, and which makes it so difficult to cast Otello appropriately 🗞️ ".... The director’s concept works, because Owen Metsileng impressively portrays the inner turmoil of the hero and murderer through his music... " 🗞️ "...It’s also a way of subtly using the somewhat out-of-control so-called “blackfacing” debate itself as a stylistic device for clarification. This is also true when the young South African OWEN METSILENG, as OTELLO, tries in vain to wipe his natural skin color off his face in a moment of despair. OWEN METISLENG impresses as he transitions from a chorus soloist position at the Hamburg State Opera to the ranks of tenors performing Verdi’s greatest works..." Next stop for Otello - Opéra de Lille in 26/27

Countertenor GEORG BOCHOW thrills in the title-part of Händel's / Albrecht Zieper's ORESTE at Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck 🗞️ "...GEORG BOCHOW’s OREST stands out in the cast. The Berlin-based countertenor captivates with a resonant and assured voice of great volume, which is full and balanced in both the high notes and the deep chest register... To this, the singer adds undeniable stage presence and confidence.....which enable him to portray a feverish Oreste, torn by passions greater than himself—and to do so with a fluidity and precision that become one with the music and the singing, which he delivers with ease and apparent effortless grace. A successful performance by the singer, who could easily become a leading figure in the field of Baroque opera..." 🗞️ “... Above all, however, OREST is a confident (battle) celebration of voices. Countertenor GEORG BOCHOW, in the TITLE ROLE, begins with a sharply defined tone and, by the time he reaches the heart-rending duet with Hermione (Annina Wachter), has developed a wonderfully soft quality....“

Martha Eason - Midsummernights Dream .jpg

Her entire performance is carried by her blend of absolute self-control and playfulness...." 🗞️ "...MARTHA EASON is a Tytania with a brilliant voice and a deeply felt performance..." 🗞️"... Stage Director HENDRIK MÜLLER deeply moved public and press with his staging of Poulenc's "Dialogues des Carmélites in sets by Rifail Ajdarpasic & costumes by Ariane Isabell Unfried at SH Landestheater Flensburg 🗞️"... Director HENDRIK MÜLLER tells this story straightforwardly and without contemporary interludes. He trusts the libretto, the music and the characters. Together with set designer Rifail Ajdarpasic, he creates an open space that reveals relationships rather than framing or commenting on them. The production does not impose itself; it gives conflicts space. It is precisely from this that it derives its tension, to which Ariane Isabell Unfried’s costumes also contribute....HENDRIK MÜLLER meticulously explores the relationships within this group. He relies less on grand gestures than on subtle shifts in glances, postures and reactions. This gives rise to tensions that can be intuitively perceived and do not require an intellectual explanation.... .... It is precisely in the interplay between the Carmelite nuns that the production reveals one of its greatest strengths. As the evening progresses, the individual sisters step in front of the curtain. There, their religious name, their secular name, their year of birth and the date on which they all died are projected. In this way, the Carmelite nuns do not form a faceless collective, but a community of clearly distinguishable women....The final scene of this production derives its extraordinary impact from the fact that it does not depict the execution of the Carmelite nuns in a naturalistic manner, but translates it into a powerful symbolic visual language. During the *Salve Regina*, one nun after another leaves the stage. Shortly afterwards, the dull thud of the falling guillotine is heard each time... The violence itself remains unseen and takes place solely in the audience’s imagination. It is precisely this restraint that shifts the focus from the brutality of the execution to the women’s inner resolve and their conscious decision to remain true to their faith. As a result, their martyrdom is experienced not as passive suffering, but as an expression of a self-determined choice of faith.... The nuns are wearing soiled white wedding dresses and holding black shoes in their hands. The wedding dress likely refers to the Christian image of the nun as the “Bride of Christ” and thus to the hope of ultimate union with Christ. The stains, however, strip this symbol of any sentimental idealization. They tell of a journey through fear, persecution, and suffering and make it clear that the sisters do not reach their fulfillment unscathed, but rather marked by their experiences.... The black shoes—which are no longer worn, but merely held in their hands and finally left on the floor—seem like the last vestiges of worldly existence. It seems as though the women have already left their earthly journey behind....Suspended from ropes above them are the Carmelite nuns’ habits. They look like abandoned shells and serve as a reminder of the life in the convent that the nuns are leaving behind for good at the moment of their martyrdom. ...Thus, the final scene conveys two levels simultaneously. Acoustically, the historical sequence of the execution is made tangible by the recurring sound of the guillotine. Visually, however, the staging depicts a spiritual transition. The women are not, first and foremost, walking towards death, but towards the fulfilment of their calling. This poetic simplification lends the final scene great emotional and spiritual depth, making it a striking conclusion to Poulenc’s opera. If I were an AI, I would write that this was an evening of opera that will linger in the memory for a long time. As a human being, I prefer to say: ‘This evening moved me deeply. The standing ovations at the final performance were just as clear an expression of this as the silence immediately before the final applause...’”
